The Phoenix Marathon
In 2013 I was lucky enough to become the Account Manager and Project Manager for The Phoenix Marathon. They had a successful first year with a half marathon and had a great challenge ahead to plan, market, and sell-out their first ever marathon. The task was ambitious, but with a few key elements we were able to help them achieve their goals.
– Site redesign with new branding in place
– Social media strategy with presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and running communication networks.
– Content strategy with a new blog in place and weekly runner communication to build a running community.
– Email campaigns for targeted promotions for registration and sponsorship
– PPC ads to attract more out-of-state runners
The Results:
1. THIS beauty was born:
2. 5,834 Facebook likes with active participation! Increased website traffic from other social platforms as well.
3. Increased readership weekly, average 1,500 readers per post. I even got to be a writer for a day and write one of the most popular posts!
4. Increased sponsorship and funding
5. Race had global representation in addition to out-of-state. PPC achieved low acquisition rate at $8 a runner!
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
The marathon sold out with 2 months to spare, the half marathon and 10k sold out one week later! Goal achieved with time to spare!
